S. Hirsch

One of Jefferson County’s most liberal and progressive citizens is Mr. S. Hirsch, who was born In Alsace, Germany, December 14, 1848. He came to America in 1872 and in 1881 located in Fayette, where he has until recently resided. By fair dealing and progressive ideas he has built up one of the largest mercantile trades in his adopted county and is always alive to any movement for the betterment of his town. Recently Mr. Hirsch has moved his family to New Orleans, but he still retains his large interests in Jefferson County, being a stockholder in the Jefferson County Bank and the oil mill. For a number of years he was a member of the Board of Aldermen and one of the trustees of the high school. Mr. Hirsch is an active member of the K. of P.
